How we can help…

buyers and sellers of networks and other electricity assets

Our engineering, technical and regulatory experience with the electricity industry means we can help various parties involved in the privatisation or sale of electricity network businesses and other electricity assets.

Our work with regulators and rule-makers - often providing engineering and technical advice on multi-discipline projects - means we are particularly suited to these types of transactions, where it will be necessary to effectively communicate relevant technical matters to non-technical people and ensuring that non-technical factors are allowed for in the technical advice.

The two roles we can perform are as follows:

The team’s technical interface

Our previous work on multi-disciplinary projects means that we are particularly suited to acting as an interface between a primary technical advisor and other regulatory, legal and financial experts.

In this role, we can ensure that the primary technical advisor is factoring in the concerns of other team members and these parties adequately understand the technical advice being given.

For example, we could assist with:

  • attending team meetings

  • preparing briefing notes and papers on the technical advice

  • preparing memos and communications with the primary technical advisor

  • general project management and administration activities.

Assessing network expenditure and service performance

Our extensive experience assessing the prudency and efficiency of network businesses’ expenditure for regulators, including benchmarking network businesses, means we are well placed to assist in assessing a network business’ expenditure needs.

For example, we could assist with:

  • developing forecasts of expenditure and service performance in a form suitable for regulatory revenue modelling

  • assessing and quantifying future efficiencies and productivity improvements

  • assessing and quantifying regulatory and business risks and opportunities

  • drafting information requests and assistance in the data room

  • drafting technical advice.
